Is there black hole?

Abstract:

This talk will be in Chinese.

This talk will address two key issues: (1) why the quasars observed at redshifts greater than six pose challenges to conventional models of accreting supermassive black holes, and (2) how the strong magnetic field measured within the central 0.12 parsecs of the Galactic Center may provide evidence for the existence of magnetic monopoles.

Biography: 
Prof. Qiuhe Peng was born in 1938. After graduated from Nanjing University at 1960, he was assigned to teach at Peking University for 18 years. In 1978, he moved back to Nanjing University and eventually became a professor. Prof. Peng is mainly engaged in nuclear astrophysics , particle astrophysics and galactic astronomy research. In the field of nuclear astrophysics, His researches involve neutron stars (pulsars), the supernova explosion mechanism and the thermonuclear reaction inside the star, the synthesis of heavy elements and interstellar radioactive element such as the origin of celestial 26Al. Over the past decade, his works are mainly on the astrophysics with both particle physics and condensed matter physics. Undoubtedly, Prof. Peng is a respectable pioneer in astrophysics of China.
