On Feb 13-17, 2017, KIAA hosted the Bilateral Workshop between the Kavli Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Peking University and the Instituto de Astrofisica, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile on Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) and Galaxies. Over 60 participants came to the workshop, including eleven participants from Chile.
The workshop was organized with short talks in the morning and group discussions in the afternoon, focusing on the topics of 1). AGN accretion and high energy emission, 2). tidal disruption events, 3). gaseous and dusty environment of AGN, 4). AGN and galaxy co-evolution, 5). Surveys and studies of galaxy formation and evolution.
The workshop provides a great opportunity for people from KIAA-PKU and PUC to discuss the open questions in recent studies of AGNs and Galaxies, develop collaborations, and plan for new projects and telescope proposals.
