KIAA postdoc Meng-Hua Chen has been awarded the PKU Outstanding Postdoc Award, one of 24 granted across PKU. This award recognizes PKU postdoctoral scholars whose research has significant scientific and academic value or demonstrates outstanding economic or social benefits.
Dr. Meng-Hua Chen
Dr. Meng-Hua Chen is currently a KIAA Fellow at the Peking University. He received his Ph.D. from Guangxi University in 2023 and joined the KIAA-PKU in July 2023. His research focuses on kilonova radiation and heavy element nucleosynthesis. He has developed a widely applicable nucleosynthesis simulation technique that is suitable for multi-band and multi-messenger studies. This technique has been successfully applied to investigate the radiation physics and energy mechanisms involved in neutron star mergers.
Prof. Li-Xin Li of KIAA and Meng-Hua’s advisor said, “Meng-Hua is a smart and creative researcher. His original work has provided valuable insights into the radiation features of high-energy astrophysical phenomena in the mergers of neutron stars.”
During his postdoctoral period, Dr. Meng-Hua Chen published four first-author papers in prestigious astronomical journals, including A&A, ApJ, and MNRAS. He also served as a reviewer for ApJ. He has led two projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China projects (a Youth Science Fund project and a Theoretical Physics Fund project), and one general project supported by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. Additionally, he has contributed to several key and general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In 2023, he was awarded the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program funded by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. Dr. Chen has also served PKU astronomy by leading many activities, including organization of seminars and the KIAA Forum.
